FFGC J-1 JUNIOR DESIGN AWARD
Donors: FFGC
Description/Purpose: To recognize and award the best blue ribbon design exhibited by a junior gardener during the current award year in the Youth division of any NGC Standard Flower Show, or in any Youth Show adhering to National Garden Club standards.
Proof of Accomplishment: Complete the FFGC Awards Application and include two color photographs of the design exhibit. Include photocopies of the entry card and ribbon dated and signed by the flower show judges evaluating the design. The age and grade of the exhibitor should be indicated. Copy and paste an excerpt from the Flower Show Schedule that includes the section/class of the exhibit.

$25 is offered annually to a Junior Gardener Club for the greatest improvement in an established school yard or for contributions in the landscaping of a new school.
Photographs before, during and at the completion of work on the project will be required, along with a written account, a planting plan, and a list of materials used. It is the intention of this award to encourage Junior Garden Clubs, Scouts, 4-H groups, Future Farmers, and students to participate in the beautification of the school grounds of Florida.

FFGC J - 4 Youth Horticulture Educational Award (New)

Description and Purpose: To the overall winner of a Youth Garden Club, sponsored by a FFGC Garden Club, for the most significant effort in planting and growing horticulture in an outdoor area. Participants may seek advice from any source but must do the actual gardening themselves.

J-14 WATER CONSERVATION – Environmental Poster Contest

Theme: “We Love Our Water – Let’s Save It”
Objective: To make children aware of the importance of water and the need to conserve it as a precious
resource. Children are to draw pictures illustrating how important water is in their lives and show the need to conserve it.

J- 15 THE LOUISE ADAMS FOR WEKIVA YOUTH CAMP REPORT

An award of $25 is given for the best individual report on “My Week at Wekiva Youth Camp”. The report should be simple, but informative, about learned and found information such as the description of nature walks, crafts or fun projects, sketches, pictures, pressed plant material, etc.

J- 16 FIELD TRIP REPORT

An award of $25 will be offered to the Junior Gardener in each division for the best report describing a field trip. The report must be neatly written. Points will be given for photographs, maps, wildlife information, drawings or pictures of horticulture native to that particular environment.
Virtual Field trips are also acceptable. Please include the field trip location's name in the report.

HORTICULTURE
J-20 JUNIOR HORTICULTURE

An award of $25 will be offered annually to a Junior Garden Club in each division for the best work in horticulture.
RULES AND SUGGESTIONS: The leader of the unit will select a horticulture project for the year. They will see that the juniors participating are instructed and advised but that the project is the work of the students. The written report may be the work of one or several members of the unit. Pictures or drawings may be added to illustrate. PROJECT IDEAS: 1. Ways of propagating plants. Grow one plant (or plants) so propagated. 2. Insect friends and enemies of plants. 3. Identify twenty-five, flowering plants. 4. A study of poisonous plants.

J-21 POISONOUS PLANTS

$25 is offered for the best folder of poisonous plants native to the Southeastern United States, made by a Junior Garden Club in each division. Material submitted must be done in color, showing characteristics, color of bloom (if any), shape of leaf, and where it is grown.
Judging Considerations: neatness, accuracy in identifying parts of the plant to be avoided, and identification of the plant (color of bloom, where found, etc.)
Minimum: 3 plants for Division A; 5 plants for Division B: 7 plants for Division C.

J-22 PITCHER PLANT PRESERVATION

$25 will be offered to a Junior Garden Club in each division that prepares the best folder of various drawings or colorings of specific pitcher plants. Each drawing or coloring should be done by different individuals in the unit so that all will learn about pitcher plants and their conservation.
Minimum: 3 plants for Division A; 4 plants for Division B; 5 plants for Division C.

May include spatter prints, drawings, photographs of trees, leaves and/or bark, map of areas in Florida where the trees are known to grow, preferences as to soil or water, can it be grown in a garden or in public plantings, are the trees on conservation list or needing protection, and ways of propagating native trees.
Minimum: 1 tree for division A, 3 trees for division B, 5 trees for division C.

Six $25 awards will be offered to a Junior Garden Club best achieving FFGC objectives in any one of the following:
A. Participation in Flower Show Design or Horticulture or participation in a workshop in design or horticulture and club projects including Arbor Day.

B. Conducting conservation, clean earth programs and a Nature Study Picnic
