Build a Bee Nest is a 1/2 day event where participants will learn about and build bee nests for either mason bees (solitary spring pollinators) and/or bumblebees (solitary summer pollinators). Bee populations across the country are becoming endangered, including several large areas in Florida. Our goal is to help people understand the nature of bees, how they nest, how to care for a nest, and after the event, take home their own nest(s) to place in their yards for year after year bee replenishment in their gardens. Light refreshments will be available for attendees.
The cost is US$10 for a mason bee nest, and US$18 for a bumble bee nest (make both for US$25!) All proceeds go towards Blue Star Market in the community Center Garden. Registration required to be assured space and materials are reserved for you! Visit overnight, room information available.
Contact: Meg Infiorati, President Steinhatchee Garden Club, no later than Nov. 20, 2017; see registration form(if mailing form, mail by Nov 15).
