    The NGC Landscape Design series is a way to develop a greater knowledge of our public and historical gardens, become better informed about our surroundings and sound manangement of them, and gain a better understanding of the landscape design process. After completing all 4 courses you will become a Landscape Design Consultant and can serve in such decision making areas of public life as providing leadership, educational programs, scholarships, awards and promoting better landscape design in your communities.

    Topics included in course 2 are the Landscape Design Process, Site Design and Landform, Plants in the Landscape, Plant Selection, Structure in the Landscape, Landscapes as a Learning Experience, Development of Landscape Design in Early America, Preservation of Historic Sites and Structures, Community Landscape Management, and Edible Landscapes. There are tests in this course – they are required in order to complete the Landscape Design Consultant curriculum.

    It is not necessary to have completed Course #1 in order to attend Course #2.

    Please bring your own lunch on both days. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Wear comfortable shoes on day 2 as there will be a garden tour. There is ample parking at the Extension Office – class will be in the auditorium.

    This is the third Class of Environmental Studies School. You may take the four classes in any order. This class will focus on the Air & Related Issues of our environment. Instructors will come from University of Florida and IFAS. Not only will there be outstanding speakers but a garden tour is included. The class will start late morning for individuals traveling from out of town to avoid an extra night at a hotel.

    Meals are included in this class. Dress comfortably and plan for a two hour walk in the garden.

    The Boca Raton Garden Club will present its annual Holiday House fundraiser on Friday, Saturday and Sunday Nov. 3-5, 2017 from 9 am to 3 pm, this event is free and open to the public, plenty of free parking.

    Holiday House Chairperson, Janie Savitch stated,"Anyone looking for unusual handmade decorations and gifts will find a complete and inexpensive selection at Holiday House, and we have beautiful plants for sale in our gardens as well as homemade goodies!" She added, We'd like everyone to come and shop - or just browse and enjoy the holiday atmosphere in both our clubhouse and spectacular gardens!" 

    "Our crafters have been creating handmade items since June this year," added Savitch. "We have seasonal decorations for Thanksgiving, Hanukah and Christmas, as well as unusual creations for year round enjoyment - many made from native Florida materials, such as palm fronds, pine cones and seashells."

    "In addition to the wonderful crafts," said Landscaping Chairman, Carol Rice,"we again are holding a huge plant sale in our club's beautiful gardens.Plants grown and cultivated by our club's own 'dirt gardens' include herbs, orchids, succulents and a wide variety of natives. Gardening tools, accessories and ornamental pieces are available for purchase as well." 

    The Holiday House event also features the sale of homeade treats including cookies, pies and cakes - all baked by club members. Mary Kaub, Bake Sale Co-chair, noted, "Every year the selection gets bigger and we sell out! Everything from cookies to quiche! Lots of people will freeze them and serve them at Thanksgiving or Christmas."
