"The Art and Science of cultivating plants" is the definition of Horticulture. Everything we do in garden clubs relates to plants in some way. All of our NGC Schools involve the study of plant material, to varying degrees. Standard Flower Shows must have more Horticulture than Design, and Judges are required to demonstrate knowledge and competence in both areas before being accredited, and must continue to exhibit both.

Wherever you came from, spend part of your time, or now live, definitely affects your gardening interests and capabilities. Many of us in Florida came from somewhere else, and old habits are hard to break! Your Horticulture Committee is available all year long, with ample combined experience, to help you meet any challenge! Whether you want to grow vegetables, roses, palms, native plants, terrariums, light gardens, succulents..whatever.. we can help. Florida is a spread out, diverse state with regard to climate, soils, and culture, and we know there isn't just one answer to many questions. Ask us anything - send us pictures to identify - let us help! (contact info is on State Board List, or email ffgclistens@gmail.com).

Designers who understand and grow unique plant material may be doubly rewarded. Your club may grow in Membership by offering programs which interest new people. Awards and rewards range from the satisfaction of harvesting your own edibles to winning Top Awards, both locally and nationally!

Know.. then Grow..and Show ..with Knowledge and Pride!
